Who owns sontara?

DuPont Protection Technologies has agreed to sell its Sontara nonwovens business to Switzerland-headquartered Jacob Holm.

What is Sontara material?

Sontara® engineers fabrics made with wood pulp/polyester fibers in modern medical colors. They are both comfortable to wear and with very limited particle shedding. More than 50% of the fibers are renewable sources and biodegradable.

What is DuPont Sontara?

Specifically made for the aviation industry, DuPont™ Sontara® Aerospace Wipes are perfect for cleaning and maintaining your airplane. Manufactured in an ultra-clean spun lacing process, these wipes contain no glues and leave virtually no lint.

What does Jacob Holmes do?

Jacob Holm is the leading innovator of spunlaced nonwoven fabrics and finished goods.

How is sontara fabric made?

Sontara® products are made using proprietary technology for high demanding applications. High-speed water jets are used to hydraulically entangle various fibers to form a strong absorbent web. Unlike many nonwoven fabrics, Sontara® uses no binders, chemicals or adhesives.

What is spunlace nonwoven fabric?

MANUFACTURING PROCESS Hygiene Plus produces Nonwoven Material using a spunlace process involving high speed jet of water to entangle fibres so that they knot around one another, thereby transforming the fibres into a nonwoven material with fabric like integrity .

What is spunlace fabric made of?

Polyester and Cotton Spunlace is spunlace nonwoven fabric (water jet interlaced nonwoven fabric) made of cotton and synthetic fiber. Unlike Cotton Spunlace made of 100% cotton, sheets of this fabric can be made harder (stronger) or softer by adding synthetic fiber.

What is the difference between spunbond and spunlace?

In the bonding of spunbond polypropylene, “calendering” is used, where the fibres are calendered through heated rollers to bond them. In the case of spunlace, however the bonding process used is hydro entanglement. The web is entangled and the fibres interlinked through multiple rows of jets of water at high pressure.

Is spunlace a plastic?

Typical Fiber types in spun-lace for wet wipes These plastic fibres are made through extruding molten polymer through small holes. They are widely used in producing wet wipes as they are renowned for having good strength.

What is spunlace used for?

Spunlace microfiber is oftentimes used in single use applications but is also suitable for many different applications including industrial use and car industry, it is even soft enough for make-up removal. They also work well as shop towels or for biohazard applications where a disposable towel is needed.

What is non woven spunbond?

Spun laid commonly known as Spunbond Nonwoven fabric are made up of the continuous process of fibres spun and directly dispersed into a web-like deflector or can be directed with air streams. This process leads to a faster belt speed.

What is spun laced?

Spunlace is a nonwoven fabric, based on the bonding by waterjets of carded web. The process makes a nonwoven fabrics with physical properties of softness, high bulk, drapability, stretchiness, good strength and depending upon the fiber used, aesthetics that mimic traditional knitted or woven textiles.
